Candidate should preferably have a SAS Local Waters Skippers ticket, 800 nautical miles with 48 night hours on watch and three trips of at least 70 nautical miles each. A basic First Aid Course, SAS Approved Eye test and a valid SRC Radio certificate.
Content – Preparation for Coastal Skipper oral and practical exam.

Duration – Two consecutive days

Content – As per SAS syllabus.

The theory exam is conducted at the end of the theory component and consists of  a Colregs paper and a navigation paper. The theory exam is included in the course fee.


Duration – Four consecutive days (full time)
Cost – R8,000.00
